There is something to be said for those sunny days that follow weeks of rain and clouds. It is a pleasure like falling in love. Our hearts respond to the sunny invitation. We see a fishing boat floating lazily between us and the jagged peaks of the Cascades, a storm-tossed log that has come to rest on the beach like a sea-carved bench, a sky that reminds us that the beauty of the earth is nearly impossible to describe. We walk on this bright day, and a woman older than we smiles at us and says only, "Aren't we lucky?" Yes, indeed. (Click on photos to enlarge.)
The birds seem quite content with low tide offerings. We learn that Sandpipers are very hard to identify. We are reminded of beauty by the Great Blue Heron as it wades in the shallow tide. We learn that a Black Turnstone is so called because they turn over stones to find food. Clever, very clever. Yes indeed.
We often have a song that is the soundtrack of our day. This one is called Hawai'i 78 by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole.
