What We See While We Change Our Lives

We know we're being quiet here. It can't really be helped. We've taken the life we have in Washington and tossed it way up into the summer air. Where it will land we have no idea, but land it will. Until then, before we've listed the house, packed a box, or even decided where we specifically want to end up...
we take a good high tide walk to the tidal estuary and see a rainbow
we harvest the garlic from the garden and set it out in the sun
we laugh at the river otter that's really a high-falutin' water weasel, as it runs from the shore to the water
...and we wonder at the incongruity of seeing deer at an extreme minus tide, among the herons and gulls at the salt water edge of our little world.

And yes, we feel both discouraged and outraged by Bush's commutation of Libby's prison sentence. I hate my skin rash too.

About suffering they were never wrong,
The old masters; how well, they understood
Its human position; how it takes place
While someone else is eating or opening a window or just walking dully along...
