I saw my first one this year. They are sharp looking ducks. So sad he is alone however. Maybe he is just the scout.
Neat little birds! We have lots in the harbour at Hamilton at the end of Lake Ontario right now.
Love those Buffleheads (-:When I moved to Scudder Pond and was learning the names of ducks, I was delighted to be able to say that I had seen a Bufflehead. Like a buffalo?Or what?
I've been seeing those on nearby Green Lake. They're very exotic-looking in these parts.
The photo is wonderful with its horizontal symmetry scuttled by the bufflehead.
I love the bird and his straight beautiful wake.
