I think this may be the oldest photo I have of my father's youngest self, at 18 with his sister Mimi. I like thinking of him like this, not yet gone off to war. On December 19, he would have been 94 years old. Happy birthday, Dad. Sending love and remembrance out into the starry universe to you.
We daughters never forget our Dads do we? Wishing you a pleasant day of holding memories close.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday from me, as well. Though I never knew him, Robin, your stories and photos bring him alive. Thank you for sharing your sweet dad with us.
ReplyDeleteThere is seldom a day when I don't envision and think of my Dad. I miss him very much and think of all the conversations we could have. Well, at least I carry on from my side of the void.
ReplyDeleteWonderful to see your father at 18 and to celebrate
ReplyDeletehis birthday today. The kindness in his face is heartening. I've seen it in photos you've posted of him at different ages.
How it tugs at the heart to see a photo of a parent so young. Your father was a handsome man. He lives still in your memory and through your kindness and good deeds.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Robin's dad!
A lovely birthday wish and remembrance!
ReplyDeleteIt's a comfort to know how much of a fond legacy he has left in his children. From what you have written of him, it seems he let his children know they were loved, and knew his children loved him in return. Happy Birthday Mr. Chanin!
