I like to keep lists too. When I was packing Don's coats to go into storage when I sold the farm, I came across many lists he made for things to pick up on his way home from work. He wasn't much for writing as he had to keep so many notes at work, so the lists are some of the only handwritten notes that I have. I kept all of them and put most of them back in the jacket pockets, to be rediscovered the next time I go through his coats.
I think of lists as suggestions, not mandatory. It does feel good to check off those 'to do' items, especially since I checked about 5 things off the 'outdoor cleanup' list last weekend in preparation of a family BBQ. (Nothing like a hard deadline,I say!)
what would we do without our lists? our calendars? our sticky notes on the bathroom mirror? I have a feeling they will become more important as the years progress....

i have to make lists, or i forget things. i try to toss the lists when finished -- there is an overwhelming amount of paper in my life -- but i still run across them everywhere. on my desk; in my purse; taped to the kitchen cabinet.

ReplyDeleteI make lists, particularly shopping lists, then forget to take them with me when I go shopping. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI like the variety of paper used in the photo. It is quite artistic!
That's about how I keep my lists too. And I can't tell you how many times I get to the market only to find I left the list at home.
ReplyDeleteI hope the answer to "almond butter?" was "yes."
ReplyDeleteIt's fine to have a list if you are checking it twice.

Wonderful photo. Reminds me of Joseph Cornell's work.
