This Cooper's Hawk has been hunting the yard, reminding me of old times in Washington.
I rescued this Ctenucha rubroscapus moth from the pond. Wading into mucky-bottomed water is definitely not my favorite, but I love these red-shouldered ctenuchas. This guy took a few minutes to recover and then flew off quite cheerfully.No pic of the very beautiful gray fox that was hanging out by the pump house. I'm pretty sure it had its eye on our kitty cat who was aware of its presence but not enough to sense danger. Our neighbors told us we had a pair of foxes down at the base of our driveway. In the heat of summer we close the blinds on the western side of the house and miss a lot of wildlife action.
Roger is recuperating. Everything takes time.
I like the rescued moth, the hawk pictures. Healing does take time and at least he's doing it in a place with such to serve as distractions.
ReplyDeleteLove your photos as always, Robin. And, yes, healing does take time and usually a lot more than we would like, but as Rain wrote, at least in your lovely home there are lots of beautiful and interesting distractions. You and Roger are both in my thoughts.

Quiet is good. Sometimes less excitement is better. Glad that you rescued the moth. Yes, foxes can be a nuisance when they don't keep a distance. When we had the farm, there was a female fox who would run inside the barn and grab a chicken or duck right while I was standing a few feet away. She wss feeding a den of young and I think it made her almost fearless (or careless) about her own safety. Good to hear that Roger is doing fine.

A grey fox! How cool is that? But do keep a close eye on your kitty. I still mourn my sweet kitty Rhymer, who was taken by something, most likely a local fox.

The moth is gorgeous. I've never seen a ctenucha moth where I live, but they are quite common where my friend lives in upstate NY. I'm glad you waded into the muck to save its life!
The hawk is magnificent, though the birds at the feeder may take issue with that assessment.
I wish Roger peace while he heals. There's so much being asked of him in this battle. We're sending him all the strength and love we can.
You have better wildlife than I do!! Our hawk must be on vacation; I haven't seen him for several months. Maybe he goes to the beach in the summer! lol
