He'll do anything to do get out of the hospital, even hitchhike! Roger is making great progress. He's been upgraded to clear liquids, which is a post-colon-surgery milestone. Surgeon says he may be able to come home on Monday, but Tuesday for sure. Roger's been walking around the hospital courtyard and gardens a couple of times a day. He loves the sunlight and flowers. Good for the spirit. We can't wait to get him home. Yes, I'd pick this hitchhiker up any day, even in that weird costume and, as one commenter said, those "high-tech hummingbird feeders!"
Thank you all for your continuing support and good wishes. Love is good medicine.
Oh, HOORAY!!! Yes, I'd pick this guy up in a New York second! You both have so much courage and I admire you so much. I love the hummingbird feeder comment! What a hoot! I continue to hold you in my thoughts and prayers. You have lots to celebrate today!

(BIG smile) I'd pick that grinning hitchhiker up just to hear his story and see his smile. Bravo, Roger, healing so quickly and with such elan. How'd you get them to give you a gown that closes in the back? Some charmer you must be. ;o)
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased for you and for Robin; what a relief to know that you'll be back home soon, where you can grow strong and ready for whatever comes. My thoughts continue to be with both of you, and I'm sending warmth, courage, patience and love your way. Stick that thumb out!

I don't blame him. I dislike hospital times also. Good he hasn't lost his sense of humor over it all :)
ReplyDeleteI'd pick him up. With that contraption, it looks like he would get good TV reception. :) Great to see him out and about and best wishes for a continued recovery!!!
ReplyDeletelookin' good, roger!
ReplyDeleteHooray! Just a few more days and back to your glorious own comfy bed and surroundings you go!
ReplyDeleteLife is good.
Keep on truckin'
Love,
Vicki
Looking good, seriously!
ReplyDeleteI would pick him up for sure, question is - would he get into my car? An old beat up toyota with dents everywhere and not even a functioning radio. "Not a doctor's car" as my neighbor says, but great for road trips so you don't worry about getting anything dirty or dented.
I wish you all the best Roger, keep fighting and adapting!
a box of rain will ease the pain and love will see you through!
ReplyDeletehospitals are why i had my children at home!
I can't believe he is up and walking outside!! Good show, Roger. Hope you get to go home soon.
ReplyDeleteLOL! What do you suppose the nurses would say if you added some red food coloring to those IV feeders? Glad to see he's up and about.
ReplyDeleteMan, he looks GREAT! If you ever get tired of him, I'll take him! ;-)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, his recovery is remarkable, and healing always speeds up once the patient returns home. He should be ready in no time for the second leg of his cancer biathlon.
You both are ever in my thoughts.
Looking good, Roger. Being up and about and out in the sunshine will definitely help to make you stronger. Great to hear that you're making the transition over to food again. Can't wait for you to be back home with Robin - where you belong!
ReplyDeleteI'd give him a lift, for sure. Might take a while to get to wherever we were going, though — the temptation to prolong the trip for the sake of the conversation might make for a slow journey. :^)
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I'd pick him up...is he wearing drawers?
ReplyDeleteSure. He doesn't look like he could do much damage hooked up to that thing.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see him looking so well!
Looking good!
ReplyDeleterobin andrea -- Your dear hitchhiker looks to me a lot like St. Francis, patron saint of animals and the environment (-:
ReplyDeleteHim---for sure. That feeder--well we would have to work on that.
ReplyDeleteLooking good fellow and great that they let you out to enjoy the sunshine.
You must be starved however. Been there attached to a bag and pretty soon you hallucinate about solid food.
Hurry home roger.
excellent! We are heading to the beach today, will be thinking good thoughts of you both!
ReplyDeleteword verification looks like rescue LOL!
I'll bet you will have some tender young veggies waiting in the new garden at home, yum.
ReplyDeleteHey Roger and Robin, have you read any Terry Pratchett books?
Can't think of any sillier or fun reading while getting your strength and energy back.
Roger looks like he's in it for the long haul! Good for him! Onward and upward!
ReplyDeleteI think I picked up that guy once. Well OM sweet OM. you're going home. You'll heal so quickly there especially with Robins good care and cooking. At last news I can be happy about.
ReplyDeleteLove

Love,
I would TOH-TILLY pick him up!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I would pick this guy up in a minute and be happy to do it. I so hope he comes home soon.
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing to see the hitchhiker at the ready. Yeah, Roger, I'd pick you up in an instant.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you have Robin to run interference at the hospital. Take care and get out of there soon.
Great shot! May the recuping continue apace!
ReplyDeleteHell yeah I'd pick him up. I love you guys. I believe we'd get along just fine and he'd be great company. Been following you for a few years now and with every new post you make my day better. Keep them coming.

During my many surgeries, I never let myself worry about the big scary things like being cut open or how much it might hurt, but I learned to really dread stuff like the johnny and the IV pole and the Jello.
ReplyDeleteSo good to see Roger back at home with his low tech hummingbird feeders, doing wonderful stuff like washing trucks and eating something other than those bleak liquid meals.
Peace and all good to you both.
