wordless wednesday

himself in the amazing quilt that arrived tuesday. thanks to the awesome kathywithcats who organized this and sewed together bits from many friends. i am already crying and will be comforted by the love sewn together to ease my way thru chemotherapy.

    it was a joy to find a piece of fabric with you in mind, Roger. We thought and thought, and then we went to the fabric store and had a hoot browsing the bolts of fabric...the act brought us close to you and we delighted in being 'in' on the secret gift! We hope it brings you great joy and comfort. Kathywithcats is a stellar human being!

    your friends responded so generously, and with such great and varied contributions! and i believe the quilt also stands for the fond thoughts of others.

    it was way fun helping the quilt build itself. it has a lot of personality! just like its owner.

    Oh, so much love sewn up in the quilt! It's beautiful. There's such a smile in your eyes in that photo--very moving!

    Looking at the fabrics, people really did choose them with you in mind, it's so very clear.

    dear linda and other friends of roger -- apologies, because i did not know how to contact everyone who cares about roger in a secret way.

    that's one reason i believe the quilt stands for more caring than that of the contributors alone. and another reason is that not everyone is in a position to ship fabric to a stranger on short notice.

    Hi Robin, Haven't been paying too much attention lately..life and stuff gets in the way occaisionally! But first, that quilt is awesome in the truest sense of the word. Second, I hope Roger is doing okay through this trial brought to you by life. And thirdly- about the Perseids? You can watch them from your deck?? we lay on the beach one night, several years ago, with air mattresses, electric blankets (!!!), some coffee and a bottle of Bailey's, and a black Lab + two cats. We happily looked straight south west, laughing and giggling, til we fell soundly asleep..Didn't see a damn thing! AND it wasn't til last week that I was told we should have been looking north east.
    Well, sprinkle me with stardust! I learned a great lesson in all of this...and that is never stop aiming for the stars.
