More Lightning Than You Can Imagine

Interestingly, we didn't see any of it. The storms were just a bit south of us, but there were 2006 lightning strikes recorded in the neighboring national forests. We were in a "red flag warning" for most of the weekend. You know there's a joke about California having only two seasons: rain and fire. In some ways it's true. If we get the season of rain, the season of fire is much less scary. With climate change, it's hard to know what to expect anymore.

  1. that's a lot of lightning strikes! we experienced a good show here -- lighting up the living room and booming to beat the band.

  4. I have to leave a comment, because the bot thingie is actually legible today!
Humans are so arrogant thinking they can overcome anything the Earth throws at us. Is that the legacy of our anthrocentric religion? We'll pay. We're taking innocents with us, though.
To me, it feels as though a huge pendulum has been started swinging--everything is extreme. The winter before last we had astonishing amounts of snow. This past winter, just about none. Last summer it rained all summer. This summer, drought. They say it's going to get worse, the extremes more extreme. I'm not looking forward to it.
