Our Welcome Home Committee
We got the keys, and we're moving in! Our new mantra is "we're movin' and we're groovin.'" Today we drove up the driveway and were greeted by this: two beautiful Wood Ducks in the pond. We've never seen Wood Ducks before so it was an incredibly grand and exciting "hello" from our new neighbors. We've got two days of moving ahead of us, so blogging will be sparse. Not much different from how it's been lately, but we have big dreams of being inspired by this home and land. When I saw these Wood Ducks I said to Roger, "Ah, now we are home."

What with the Pileated Woodpecker and the Red Trillium and the pair of Wood Ducks, you are clearly being welcomed by your new neighbors!
ReplyDeleteexcellent omen, kids. don't hurt yourselves moving!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely welcome!! Take it easy while you are moving in and don't work too hard!

Yeah!
ReplyDeleteI am glad it all worked out and now the fun begins. We have wood ducks here along the creek but they are not so easy to get close to here. We never feed any wildlife other than a birdseed feeder and hummingbirds. Even that I wonder if we are being wise about but it's hard to resist. It does upset the balance though and basically with things like deer, I don't want them feeling too comfortable with us as the next human might have a gun in hand. Basically humans are not really the friend of wildlife other than to observe and enjoy as part of the wild.
ReplyDeleteOh yes. Yaay yaay. I'm so happy for you!!!!
ReplyDeleteShweet! Just in time for spring.
ReplyDeleteXXXXOOOOOO MandT & Bodhi Dog!!!!
ReplyDeleteFABULOUS! Been out of touch here, but wonderful to come back to find you moving into a mammoth 5 acres...and pileated & wood ducks to make you feel at home....(I'm surprised you didn't see them in WA.). Congrats, it's a beautiful setting, I am envious...we had a blizzard this morning ....but a nice afternoon. you remember "spring" in the NW....hah. Good luck moving in.
ReplyDeleteYippee, indeed. Funny how some things just work out right.
ReplyDeleteDon't overdo it moving! :-)
Looking forward to more pictures!
Welcome HOME!

perfect!
ReplyDeleteA pair of wood ducks nested on the lake where I lived in Atlanta. They are quite shy, for ducks, and having them as your welcoming committee is wonderful!
you are probably all worn out by now, hauling boxes and deciding what goes where. but hope you are feeling at home!
ReplyDeleteDitto all the other happy thoughts!!!!
ReplyDeleteHello, It's been quite a while since I last visited. Just where in the world is your new home? Lovely to see Wood ducks there! I think they have visited our place only one time when I was watching but we do have them in our area and see them often when out walking in the area. Hope your new home has lots of wild life to talk about and photograph!
