Wordless Wednesday: With Words, As Usual

We took a walk Tuesday afternoon to exercise (and exorcise) the stress we've been under. Oy, you'd think it would be easier to buy a house, especially when you make a full price cash offer. But no, not when one of the sellers is a lunatic drama queen who just can't seem to let go of her house. But, her insanity was our inspiration to get out and stretch our crazy winter limbs. So we walked the shady ditch trail and watched three vultures sun themselves on the first warm blue-sky day in a week. Those of you who are not our friends on Facebook don't know what we have experienced with this woman who has hijacked this experience in her pursuit of her own emotional wackiness. Roger and I are the absolute picture of sanity in this most insane transaction. Who would have thunk such a thing?

  1. Oh, I do feel for you guys, you've been so incredible through this whole thing and I just hate the frustration you've been experiencing!!! I wish I could wave a magic wand and make it all go away so you could enjoy your new home and begin putting all the pieces together! Having a little frustration of my own now, so I do relate! My thoughts are with you! You deserve better than this!!!

  2. Is there an end in sight? Do they have a move out deadline or some sort of finish?

  3. Oh, my. You almost make me wish I were on Facebook. But I already spend way too much time online.

I won't ask you to update us Luddites, since I get the sense we're in a minority. If you have an agreement signed by both parties so that the sale is legal, drama queen is sh*t out of luck. A friend got her home via a lawsuit when the owners changed their minds after the agreement was signed. It took a year and a half, but the property value had gone up and the interest rates down in that time, so she was sittin' pretty when it was all over. But, yes, it was stressful.

In matters of real estate, a good lawyer is a good thing to have at your side.

    Aren't turkey vultures magnificent?

  4. I hope this is all resolved today but it evidently is a tough time for real estate deals especially if the woman felt forced to sell by economic circumstances. Not all people handle that well or maybe she suddenly decided she hadn't asked enough money for it. Whatever the case, it sounds like you handled it well and changing your locks when you get settled is a very very smart move. She'll go on to a new emotional trauma but for awhile you don't want her coming in when you aren't there. It sounds like a home that will make you very happy.

  5. Gosh I hope you get your house soon, it's so stressful when it drags on and on. You've been looking for so long!

We tried to buy a nice house here in CT with 6 acres and an organic garden already in raised beds... BUT- The couple were in a messy divorce, and the wife just didn't want to move. She said no to a full price offer, just because the house had only been on the market for less than 2 weeks. We bowed out o9f the deal when the husband took her to court over our offer.

We decided it's just not quite our time, and when my hubby's job is over sometime in the next two years (or less, if UTC decides to close Pratt&Whitney East Hartford sooner) we will begin again to look for the spot to spend the rest of our lives. For now, we're fixing all the little things that need it at our current home - to make it more marketable, and throwing away or giving away all the stuff we don't need going forward. (But the suspense over where we'll be is killing me ;)

  6. Your animal photos continue to amaze me. That buzzard IS a beautiful bird!
Well, having had belly-level freakout feelings over buying a house, I bet it can work the other way for the seller. May the drama end.

  8. So sorry to read that you're having trouble getting your perfect house yet again. I hope that the lady comes to her senses soon so both of you can get on with your lives in peace and harmony. Thinking of you.

  9. I hope you're doing a good cleanse of that house before you bring anything inside. I'm thinking cedar and sage smudging and a ritual sweeping just for starters. Otherwise you'll have to live with the residue of teh crazy.
