Countdown Day 4: Snowed In Without Power

Oh yes, when the weather forecaster predicted a monster snowstorm, they had it just right.
This is what the deck looked like Friday morning. Fifteen inches of light powder and still falling. We have no power, but are managing with the generator and woodstove.
All day we've been hearing the sound of snow-laden branches cracking and falling. It's a little bit unnerving. We are surrounded by very big trees. The top of one broke off and crashed on to the fence some time in the night.

I'm creating this post Friday morning with a post time of midnight... just in case we lose our ability to connect to the internet. We'll keep you posted, if and when we can.

    Good luck with the weather. I hope the snowfall ends and that it warms up quickly so that the load melts off the trees. Unfortunately, it sounds all too familiar. Good that you have the woodstove and a generator. Keep safe and warm!

    And I thought we had lots of snow. You win! We have not lost power for more than a few hours lately and more often in summer than winter. Hope yours is back soon and that spring arrives soon too!

    The snow is beautiful but when the power goes and tree limbs crack, it loses a lot of its appeal.
    So glad you have back ups.
    Enjoy the view and snuggle around the woodstove.
    Day 4 is just wonderful news. Hoping Spring is hot on the tail of day Zero.

    That is serious snow. Just heard that it even snowed in San Francisco, the first time in 35 years. It's cold here, too, close to record-breaking. Just glanced up to see that it's snowing here right now. Sending warm thoughts your way!

    Snow's fun, but I could do without that limb-breaking-off bit. Best to wait a bit after the snow ends before you go out and explore.

    It's so pretty, though, isn't it?

    I'm glad you got the generator. I hope it makes it a bit more of an adventure than an inconvenience to have the power out.
