I have to say, watching Roger work for hours on this box, dig the hole for the post, and then place it, reminded me of my old Rogie. He worked hard and had the energy for it. Yes, he was tired afterward, but he took a break and then split some firewood. I couldn't believe how GREAT it was to have that Rogie back. My heart was singing.

Wood Duck Nest Box

wooohooo go Roger!
ReplyDeletedon't worry about more then one box, the females will share the box and lay all their eggs in one nest, even sharing incubation, usually one will take on the role and when they hatch there will be many many ducklings to watch. Hooded Magansers will also lay eggs in with Woodduck eggs. So exciting!
great photo of duck prints in the snow!
ReplyDeleteOh Roger, such a talented, energetic man. It is good, no GREAT, to hear he is getting stronger.
Oh, Happy Lil' Wood Ducks.
Go Rogie Go!
ReplyDeleteWay to go Roger!!! Wonderful news that he is being so active and creative.
ReplyDeleteI did not know ducks would use a box and Dawn's explanation how they will share is facinating. Dang, wish I had a pond.
I can hear your heart singing all the way across the country!
ReplyDeleteHow neat to have the Wood ducks feeling so comfortable that they are wandering up near your house. Great to hear that Roger has more energy and is feeling stronger. As the days pass by, that should only improve - just in time for enjoying a wonderful summer.
ReplyDeleteSounds as if all the creatures are thriving down there. Good!
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful roger, i love it
ReplyDeleteHey, you can't keep a good man down! This post has me grinning from ear to ear.
ReplyDeleteAny chance that you can watch for where the ducks are hanging out without disturbing them?
YEA!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos and comments. Great to hear about the Wood Ducks and Roger all doing so well. All are quite special!
ReplyDeleteGood news shared is good all the way around.
ReplyDeleteA treat to learn about the wood ducks, we have a lot of them around here as we sit in the Pacific flyway.
build roger, build.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Roger is getting his strength back, and has the energy to do so much! YAY!! It's interesting how much snow there was this past winter. My mother told me that we are expecting possibly more snow tomorrow! And they said Phil didn't see his shadow?!?
