Winging It

We've been noticing wings everywhere lately.
The band-tailed pigeons have descended on our yard with a voracious appetite. At one point we counted nearly twenty birds.
We walked out on to the piers in town on Monday to take a look around. We were looking for Sea-Stars, but found a dumpster-diving seagull instead.
The pigeons spend much of their time jockeying for position on the feeder. They don't mind stepping on each other.
This hummingbird made a brief appearance at the feeder before zipping off on some important hummingbird mission.
The pigeons strike the most elegant poses while dining on sunflower seeds and peanuts.
The Double-crested Cormorant dries its wings in classic cormorant fashion.

Wings, everywhere we looked.

Baby bird update: A commenter named Rob Miller left us a comment on our bobcat post, so I checked his blog and he has some spectacular photographs of baby owls and baby red-tailed hawks. Take a look.
