we have several butterfly bushes (Buddleia davidii, most likely) in our yard. there are two about 15 feet apart which we walk between going to and fro to the greenhouse. for several days now when we walk by hundreds of butterflies flutter off the long purple flowers and dart around us. we have not found a way to photograph these swarms so you just have to make do with a word picture of standing in the midst of several hundred butterflies. they do settle back down to nosh after a while, but any movement sets them to flight again. all sorts of other insects like these bushes also. honeybees, some kinds of flies (?), smaller moths or butterflies. the pictures below are of the main feeders.

painted lady (vanessa cardui) hundreds of these
bumblebee (bombus hortorum) a few of these. they are noisy.
